Truth be told, I’ve been very reluctant to push any one product.

Honestly, I have scoured thousands of dog breeder websites since the test of time. I saw NUVET everywhere. Okay and now I see all the copy/paste paragraphs recommending these supplements and quite possibly my gravest shortcoming… I always judge by the cover. I hated the branding. I thought, when I was a wee breeder, once I’m more established and educated.. I’d look into NuVet, SURELY they would have updated their LOOK by then.

Well, we see that hasn’t happened, the only thing that did happen, and possibly, dramatically… some of our productions could have lived more wholesome cushy jointed, and happier lives. They could have been more comfortable for longer. The dogs that have aged out with me, could have been more comfortable too.

As a dog woman, married to a dog man, as a mother, and first and foremost, an animal lover… I have tried it all. I’ve recommended this, and that. Hot spots, no problemo, try this. Your bulldog doesn’t listen, let’s try this. Potty accidents are no big deal, start x.y and z. There are always new products, old wives’ tales, and amazing things that we’ve learned by accident. No two dogs are the same, nothing is a cure-all. But one thing is for certain. Bulldog and Bully breeds carry more mass per square inch than the average animal. That is more pressure on each joint with every step. That is more ground and pound, wear and tear, and shock absorption than most dogs out there. No, they aren’t meant for cross country, just like penguins aren’t meant to fly, but we can make their life a whole lot sweeter with a little help.

We can all agree that if you want a BULLDOG, it’s because LOOKS MATTER.. Hear me out, you don’t want a bulldog because you want your jeans to be soaked when they wipe their face on you, yet to master graciously drinking their water. You don’t want a bulldog because it’s just so adorable to hear the farting or snoring and snorting, or maybe you do. They don’t smell the best, they’re cumbersome, they eat a lot…Why do you want a bulldog?

You want a bulldog because you can’t forget that feeling you had the first time you saw one. That bittersweet heartache or pang when someone hands you the dog of your dreams, and you know it’s not going home with you. Bulldogs don’t just fall in your lap, they are sought after. And you want to know what you’re missing… am I right? Remember Lady and the Tramp, Oliver, and Company, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Looney Tunes and so much more.. All this nostalgia wrapped up in a short, fat, wrinkled-up, exaggerated cartoon of a dog, the Bulldog.

Breeding bulldogs is a very scary business. You don’t want to lose your look, you don’t want to go too far, too extreme. Albeit, people want that, or at least they think they want that. Lots of drama comes with a bulldog. And hip health, joint supplements, and inevitable arthritis are in your destiny. There are other “bulldog problems” but we’ll keep them in joint for now. Some breeders do care, we care. There have been breeders before me who made amazing dogs but felt that it was your problem, whatever was to come of the dog they sold you. They don’t want to hear about it and they have an iron-clad contract protecting themselves. Is that how business should be? Is that how to remain profitable? As a baby breeder, which I still feel I’m in elementary in this, over a decade later, all this is a lot to take on. That mindset never felt right to me. The what-ifs keep me up and night. So and so’s dog is doing this, yes he’s 7. So and so’s dog is having these issues, was it environmental, negligence, or did we do something wrong? Did we match up the wrong pair chasing bulldog perfection?

Even now, Chris and I go head-to-head, frequently. Believe it or not, Mr. Mass and Substance have all these dogs here that do have amazing structures, but they don’t necessarily look like bulldogs. In his defense, a few years ago my grievances had more to do with health and joints and now that he’s pursuing that, I’m still not happy. I tell him my family homes what cute and calm and will sacrifice a little perfect structure for a managable pup. Is that true? Do you want a downright bulldog that can go for a little walk and breathe a little better than a traditional English Bulldog? Or do you want a bulldog that can run marathons, and breathe like a coyote (here’s a cheat code, if they breathe like a coyote, they look like one too). Well, because we have both here, and all in between. Bulldoggin’ is a fine line. Not too much this, add a lot of that. And every family and their expectation for a pet vary.

But what doesn’t vary is the necessity to supplement your Bulldog, your Olde English Bulldogge, your French Mastiff’s, and even French Bulldog’s joints. If they’re short and squatty or if they have hip and joint degeneration in their breed. You need to supplement your kibble. For us, we’re finally settling with NuVet.

We recommend this product to anyone who has ever gotten a dog or puppy from us. I’m sorry we haven’t implemented it sooner. I wanted to be sure and hear great things a thousand times over. NuVET PLUS-

Vitamins and Minerals are always important. It is very hard to consume everything we need to flourish, both human and pet. So supplementation is advised for sure.

NuJoint DS-

If you have to choose one, this is what I find most imperative for your Bulldogs and Bully Breeds. These guys are heavy-footed and put a lot of pressure on their joints from the moment they learn to walk. Remember to grow them slow and steady. Keep exercise low impact for as long as possible. No jumping off furniture or high surfaces.
